Saturday Sunday Monday

Hi,

I had absolutely no intention of running Saturday after putting in quite a few miles over the course of week, but right at the last moment I put on my running shoes and hit the trail. At 25 minutes it wasn’t a long run in comparison to the 40 and 50 minute runs I managed in the days before, but it was long enough to have been of value.

The beauty of the shorter run is I can push the pace a little bit more than I can with a longer run. It almost feels like a different kind of exercise and the difference keeps the interest going.

On Sunday I had a day off. The only exercise was walking the dogs. There was a family celebration and I ate more calories than usual but I’d intended to so. I’m trying to get fit and lose the fat, but I’m not going to do it by denying myself every luxury. I’m strict during the week so the occasional treat will do me no harm.

In fact I felt better about eating the extra on Sunday having put in the additional run on Sunday. It felt like I was in credit rather than in debt.

Today (Monday) I had a late afternoon run on what felt like the hottest day of the year so far. I nearly didn’t go as I’d felt unwell a little earlier. I’m impressed with myself for sticking to my plan and told myself that once I started running I could stop at any time.

I managed a decent 45 minute cross country run. I had to stop halfway through for two minutes to let the dogs cool off in the lake. I don’t like stopping, but they needed a rest and to be honest, so did I.

I’m toying with starting some body weight exercises designed to preserve as much muscle as possible while I’m in this cardio cutting phase.

This was a good start to the week. I’ll weigh again on Wednesday to see that I’m still on track and tomorrow, I may well start the bodyweight exercise part of my fitness and fatloss program.

Be healthy!
